Check out what students and teachers had to say about our the Adapt for Life program and the learning experience.

Students say…

  • I learned ways to communicate better and handle my stress. Sometimes life can get complicated and you never know what to expect. I believe that teens my age should get know about this presentation because it was EXTREMELY helpful.

  • That mental health is a real problem, but it is only a losing battle if you don’t seek help.

  • I believe the most important thing I learned was how to identify my own obstacles and stress, because I feel I have a tendency to focus on others' emotions and making sure they are happy before I am.

  • The most important thing I learned was that no one is alone in their fight, and there is always someone there for you. I also learned that it’s very important to tell a trusted adult if someone or yourself is thinking about suicide.

  • I learned that being mindful can be very beneficial. It is important to be aware of your thoughts and feelings. I learned that asking questions and educating people is the best way to combat the stigma. People assume that they know many things about mental illnesses, but they probably don't. I learned that the best way to help somebody is to give them hope.

  • You can make a difference in someone's life by just reaching out and caring about them. By stepping back and finding the roots of your problem, mood, or feelings, you can better care for them. Just simple mindfulness activities can increase your awareness and allow you to be more present.

  • The most important thing that I learned is that asking for help doesn't make you weak.

  • Depression is not a one-person thing. Many people deal with it, and there are ways to cope with it.

  • Everyone is going through things, and there are always people out there who can relate to your situation and help you.

  • I learned that it's okay to ask for help and that I don't have to hold it all in.

  • That no matter what, you need to be aware and if you think someone is acting weird or off, then you should take action. You should ask them questions to see if they are okay.

  • An important thing I learned was assessing my triggers and cues to better understand my stress.

  • I learned how to better understand myself and others. This activity reminded me that i am not alone and it urged me to tell my mom how I was feeling. I can now help others more and help myself with coping strategies. The end reminded me that I should be thankful for things in my life and when I feel like I don't have anything at all I can take a step back and realize that I have more than I think I do. Thank you for your time!

  • The most important thing I learned is to always speak up because you may save someone's life.

Educators say…

  • Adapt for Life set the groundwork for discussions that happened later in the year. Many seeds were planted that bore fruit later.

  • Having this program at the beginning of the year was extremely helpful. It set a climate of acceptance and empathy. It was a great way to open the door for students to talk to adults and each other about their feelings and when they were concerned about a friend or family member.

  • Very productive week. Taking a break from the grind of the curriculum for some self-talk and mindfulness gives us all a shared experience and brings us closer as a class.

  • Fantastic program!

  • Great information at a very necessary time in the lives of our youth.

  • I have been using this program for over 10 years. The past few years with the updated material have been awesome. The presenters, the information, and how engaged the students are make this a very useful program for my class. If we can help one student through this program it is worth it—and trust me, it has helped a lot more than that!!!

  • Wonderful experience for our students!

  • The Adapt for Life program is simply outstanding. The material presented and the interaction the facilitator created with the students was superb. She created an atmosphere of comfort, understanding and knowledge. The students greatly appreciated what was taught. They were able to gain valuable information regarding mental health and how to seek assistance. The program put them more at ease dealing with mental concerns and allowed them to speak openly about the topics. AFL is a valuable educational tool for our students.

  • The students learned a great deal and enjoyed the facilitator. The program helped the students understand why mental health is so important.

  • Great presentation!

  • Program does an outstanding job!

  • The facilitator was engaging and well organized.
